These Retreats are reserved for people who have already been to Kanshoji.
For newcomers, Discovery Retreats are offered throughout the summer.
In the time of Shakyamuni Buddha, his disciples would gather at monsoon time to practise alongside him in tranquillity.
This tradition continues to this day. The sangha meets every year, during the summer retreats, to live, practise together, exchange ideas and help each other to awaken.
This is also the time when we welcome people who have come to discover Zen. It’s an opportunity to fulfil your bodhisattva vow by supporting them with your presence and your practice: it’s the Sangha treasure at work.
These retreats take place in five-day cycles. Each cycle includes a one-and-a-half day sesshin.
It’s best to arrive at the beginning of a cycle, but you can leave whenever you like (there are sliding scale fees according to the length of your stay!).
