In Buddha’s time, monks walked the paths, bringing his teaching to those they met, helping them face the hardships of their lives. Laypeople gave them something in return to provide for their needs. Since then, the Way has always been upheld and spread through the practice of giving.
Receiving and giving: that is how the life of the universe unfolds, unimpeded. Times change, but this truth is eternal.
Selfless giving transforms the heart of the giver and the receiver.
To fulfill Kanshoji’s vocation, we must maintain the buildings, improve accommodation and keep the monastery beautiful.
In order for the practice to be accessible to the greatest number of people, we strive to keep our rates as affordable as possible. Consequently, our earnings don’t always cover our expenses. Kanshoji has survived to this day, in large part, thanks to your donations.
Your donations are partly tax-deductible under the law.

Donations dedicated to the purchase of a large bell (bonsho)
Donations dedicated to operations
Help pay utility bills (electricity, water, heating), food, maintenance and taxes.
Donations dedicated to investments
This year’s investment involves replacing the buildings’ outdated gas-fired heating system with a biomass heating system using wood chips, in line with sustainable development standards. This work is part of an ecological approach to the monastery’s development. The sum required is €150,000.
Residents assistance fund
The residents practice and study the Way. They take care of the monastery and offer guidance to those who come for practice.
As they do not receive a salary, your donations allow them to pay their monthly living expenses.
Online teachings and practice
We offer online meditations and teachings for those who cannot come to the monastery.
Your generosity will allow us to update and maintain our IT system.
